Commission Recommends OMNIA Vendor Authorization for Housing Authority

Commissioners recommended the Housing Authority authorize OMNIA Partners cooperative vendors for FY 2026-27 maintenance supplies, saying it speeds purchasing without a separate bid process.

Why it matters: Without the commission's recommendation the city lacks authorization to use OMNIA, and the item would drop off the October 8 City Council agenda.

Commissioner Questions Lowe's Versus Home Depot Spending Caps

Staff defended differing not-to-exceed caps by noting HD Supply is Home Depot's wholesale arm and that multiple vendors broaden price choice; one commissioner remained unconvinced and voted no.

Why it matters: Caps total up to $579,000 in the agenda, and the lone dissent shows lingering questions over the basis for vendor-level spending limits.
