Cullowhee Community Planning Council

Quasi-judicial planning council established under Jackson County's Unified Development Ordinance (originally adopted May 2015) to conduct design review, decide special use permits and variances, and review zoning amendments within the Cullowhee Community Planning Area, an unincorporated community surrounding Western Carolina University. Authorized under NCGS 153A-321/160D-301. Consists of seven regular members appointed by the Board of Commissioners to staggered three-year terms; members must reside in, own property in, or own a business in the Cullowhee Planning Area. Administered by the Jackson County Planning Department.
